Long Term Disability

 


Benefit Amount: 67% of the first $4,000 of monthly earnings, 50% of the next $3,500 of monthly earnings and 44% of the remainder to a maximum benefit amount of $10,000 per month.

Elimination period: 112 days

Definition of disability: 2 year own occupation; any occupation thereafter

  • 2 Year Own Occupation – A disability resulting from an illness or injury, which prevents you from performing the essential duties of you own occupation.
  • Any Occupation – A disability resulting from an illness or injury, which prevents you from performing the essential duties of any occupation for which you are reasonably qualified by education, training or experience.

Should you become disabled, and approved for Long Term Disability (LTD), the benefit amount you receive is non-taxable.

LTD is mandatory benefit for which you are automatically enrolled and is 100% employee paid via payroll deductions.

Termination of Coverage

Your LTD coverage ends on the earlier of retirement, termination of employment or age 65 less the elimination period.
